Retreat! Evacuate! Work!

Not sure how many know about the severe weather the Houston area has been having and will continue to have. Over the past 2 weeks we've been getting pounded by continuous rain storms that have spawned tornadoes and floods. 

On top of all of that, the reservoir near my house used to cool the power plant it belongs to is nearly bursting through its dam!



As you can see the reservoir's dam is made from earth and rock. Which, with the record breaking rain fall we've been having, means it's eroding away. the picture above shows them trying to make repairs so that 400 - 1000 homes (including mine!) don't get washed away in a tsunami! 

Well, Monday, they were afraid that repairs weren't going as planned because of the constant downpour, so they evacuated my neighborhood. me and my wife (oOSolarEclipseOo) ran to my cousin's house because he's close to my job (he even works for the same company i do) and I am trying to not use up all of my vacation time. So, I went to work and learned that we could come home cause the repairs held and they added more. So, solar and i returned home. THAT NIGHT a tornado decided to run rampant through our area, threatening my neighborhood. Again we ran for the hills, but with much less stuff cause we only had 20 minutes to get out!

When they evac'ed us for the dam, we were able to take all of our valuables  cause there was no determined time frame. so we packed up things, i ripped the hard drives out of mine and solar's PCs and we left. for the tornado though, there wasn't even enough time for that. it was alike: we ran, and then came back, just to have all of our stuff threatened again! 

Yeah i didn't go to work that night. Today (Wednesday) I went to work, and everything seems to be fine other than the consistent downpours that still threaten to flood everything. 

The tornado didn't touch down, so no one was hurt, and the dam has been patched up until the raining stops for good. So unless it rains to the point my house gets carried off (which others have had happen to them, unfortunately) we should all be safe, thank God. 

So now as i write this i'm running on 2 hours of sleep, but soon... i can sleep... soon....

I praise God that i'm still here and I'll admit, this has kinda opened my eyes to what i find important in this house. If immediate danger looms, fuck it all and fuck all regrets; as long as Solar and myself gets out, that's all that matters.  

Hope to have some art out soon. dying to draw, but staying awake is taking all of my focus today...

saw a cool short PMV from vavacung earlier, might do some fan art o' it. Just to have something Twilight to draw. We'll see...
